This is ChristiAnne again, checking in to report on my latest endeavors with CBD tea taste testing. The last time I blogged, I wrote about my experience with daytime tea options. I had found success in my search for a daytime time I could drink before work by combining black tea leaves with water soluble CBD. Because of the positive results of this experiment, I decided to continue by trying out other varieties of tea that I normally drink during the day and seeing what kind of difference CBD would make in both the taste and the way I felt from drinking the tea. Just recently, I decided to try creating my own tea concoction using Rooibos tea leaves.

Using Tea as Alternative & Complementary Medicine

I have been drinking tea for health and wellness reasons for many years now. When I was in college, I had some unfortunate experiences with prescription drugs that led me to pursue holistic medicines as an alternative to pharmaceuticals. I started shopping at health food stores and vitamin shops. I noticed that many of the ingredients in the supplements and holistic medicines were also in the teas that the shops sold. I liked the taste of tea, but I had never considered using it for health reasons. So I decided to give it a shot.

When I drank the teas from the health food stores, I felt an immediate difference in my body and my energy levels. My health seemed to improve. For several years, I continued to drink tea as part of my daily routine. Sometimes, I drank teas that promote relaxation and other times I drank different varieties such as ginger, turmeric, licorice, and peppermint when I was feeling ill or symptomatic.

The Health Benefits of Rooibos Tea – A Surprising Discovery

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine turned me onto rooibos tea. He told me that rooibos tea leaves were great for its antioxidant benefits. After doing some of my own research online, I found that rooibos had many health benefits, some of which were surprising to discover.

Rooibos is a plant native to South Africa. It can be harvested and dried into tea leaves. When consumed in this form, it has a sweet, nutty taste. Some of the health benefits of drinking rooibos tea include reduce inflammation, pain relief, heart disease prevention, and increased antioxidant levels in the body.

Combining Rooibos Tea Leaves with CBD: Taste + Experience

With all the sickness going around this winter, I decided now would be a good time to try rooibos tea with my CBD and give my immune system a boost. I prepared my CBD tea just like any other tea. I boiled on the stove, added the water soluble CBD, and then added the tea bag. When I make tea, I always put a lid over the top of the cup because I read that this allows the tea to steep better. I then waited for about 5-10 minutes before drinking the tea.

Just like I suspected, the strong profile of the tea was enough to cover up the bitter taste of the water soluble CBD. This was the same experience I had when drinking black tea leaves. The tea had a slightly sweet, almost peanut like taste to it, which I really enjoyed. After about 45 minutes, I started to notice the effects of the CBD. I felt relaxed, calm, and very at peace. I was mildly concerned that I would feel sleepy since rooibos does not caffeine, but this was not my experience. The rest of the day seemed to flow smoothly and my mood also remained throughout the day. All in all, I would consider my rooibos cbd tea endeavor a success.
